CORE of OEA
The Coalition of Retired Employees of the Ohio Education Association
Seeking a just and fair resolution
After six years OEA settles one week before trial. Now we are on the path to getting insurance and damages. Go to the CORE Member/Retiree Information Area to see the details.
Who is CORE of OEA?
CORE of OEA is an organization created to protect the rights and benefits of the retired employees of the Ohio Education Association. In the Spring of 2004 OEA served notice that it was terminating all Medicare Supplemental health care coverage for its retired staff employees. Those benefits have been contractually guaranteed for over 25 years.
Because OEA leadership refused to even talk with retirees to try to bring the issue to a reasonable resolution, retirees were forced to file a class action lawsuit in Federal Court in order to seek a just and fair resolution.
On May 10, 2010 the Sixth District approved a settlement between the parties. Retirees have finally achieved the just and fair resolution they sought for over six years.
This website is dedicated to providing factual information to our members, the members of the Ohio Education Association, and to the general public. The site has been updated to reflect the settlement and information needed by retirees concerning their benefits.
